Ronit is a sophomore from India pursuing Computer Science and Interactive Media. He's a tech enthusiast passionate about automotive cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and gamification. He loves watching cricket and spy thrillers in his free time. He's interested in philanthropy but wishes to expand his horizon with this fellowship. He looks up to the world's top 1% who are making a difference (in a good way) and wishes to do the same!
Mst. Farzana Haque
Farzana is a freshman from Bangladesh planning to major in bioengineering to go on a pre-med track, and likely join a medical school to become a neurosurgeon. She is passionate about reading novels and reciting poetry, debating, and advocating for a change. She loves talking to people and engaging with the community. One fun fact about her is that she can cook all kinds of Bangali dishes, as well as many other dishes from different countries but can't cook perfect rice!
Matthew is a senior from the United States majoring in economics. He doesn't know his passion yet, but he believes this fellowship will put him on the right track towards finding his passion. A fun fact about him is that he is an identical twin!
Amina is a freshman from the Republic of Moldova, currently majoring in Arab Crossroads Studies and Political Science with a minor in Peace Studies. Outside the world of academics, she is interested in the dynamics of power relationships within international affairs, but she finds her escape in writing. She is passionate about animal rights, specifically raising awareness on animal abuse, and would love to create shelters for stray animals back in her home country of Moldova. A fun fact about her is that she lived in Georgia throughout her high school and consider Tbilisi the city of her soul.
Silvana García Gutiérrez
Silvana is a freshman from Colombia who is majoring in Political science. She is passionate about indigenous communities, education, and social businesses. A fun fact about her is that she finished high school in a boarding school in Hong Kong and part of convincing her parents to let her come to NYUAD was that Abu Dhabi is technically closer to home.
Hunwoo is a junior from South Korea who is majoring in chemistry. She loves to read and play puzzles and sudokus. She also loves watching and criticizing bad movies with her friends over sweets and discovering and listening to new music. In particular, she is passionate about feminism and LGBTQ+ rights.
Ailin is a sophomore from China who is majoring in legal studies. She is passionate about the law and giving all the voiceless a voice in law. Her fun fact is that she was recommended this program by a friend and became fascinated just an hour before its deadline.
Huda is a junior from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who is majoring in social research and public policy (SRPP). She is passionate about identity politics, intersectional or historical roots of social issues, and increasing accessibility to literature. She is also more broadly invested in how the personal becomes political, conceptualizing interactions through the cultural and the philosophical, as well as literature. She hopes that this fellowship helps her articulate her ideas, while also gaining new perspectives from her peers. She also love coffee, writing, and reading!
Nghia is a sophomore from Vietnam who is studying Computer Science & Mathematics. He is your typical nerd who loves reading (Sci-fi & nonfiction), music (rock & jazz), and technology (cool XR and AI stuff!). His passion lies in developing AI for the good of humanity and his dream is to one day build the kind of machine that can think and be creative just like a human being. He is quite extroverted, so he loves to socialize and talk about anything from ancient Greek philosophy to the newest Coldplay album. He is always on the move so you can find him at the gym, the library, the music room, the track, or even the climbing wall depending on the time of day! He loves a great sense of humor so if you can make him laugh, he will stick around!
Amiteash is a sophomore from India who is majoring in Biology. He is deeply passionate about concepts in Public Health, especially those related to Cancer and Antimicrobial resistant (AMR) diseases. he is also passionate about environmental protection, sustainable waste management, and improving accessibility for people with visual and hearing disabilities. You might find him reading, browsing through random Wikipedia articles, watching popular science channels on YouTube, or, more recently, listening to instrumental music.
Yoojin is a sophomore from South Korea studying SRPP and legal studies. She is passionate about issues like availability of education and health service, reproductive rights, government welfare, and foreign worker rights. She has the same name as Rapunzel's boyfriend. (Tangled, 2010)
Phil is a sophomore from the Philippines studying computer science and economics. He is passionate about innovation, economic development and entrepreneurship.
Malak is a freshman from Egypt who is majoring in psychology. She is passionate about disparities in the right to education, global public health, systematic discrimination policies, and pushing for more diversity within positions of power. Her less EA interests include watching awful movies, cultivating Spotify playlists, and cooking. A fun fact about her is that he has a collection of antique cooking equipment back home.
Pratik is a freshman from Nepal who is studying economics and computer science. He loves cooking food, paying squash and watching anime. Fun fact, he wrote about his passion for cooking in his NYUAD essay and made in!
Aliya is a sophomore from Kazakhstan who is majoring in psychology. She is interested in studying brain and cognitive sciences, and how these areas can contribute towards providing more inclusive and quality education. She enjoys listening to music, dancing, walk in parks and take pictures of everything around.
Yulia is a sophomore from Poland who is double majoring computer science and mathematics. She is passionate about the human-centered perspective of AI and about creating social impact through new technologies. Fun fact about her is that she was in top 0.01% listeners of Daniel Barenboim (a great pianist & conductor) on Spotify in 2021.
Fezan Ali Mustafa
Fezan is a Pakistani-Canadian junior majoring in economics. He is passionate about food, both cooking and trying new restaurants as well as coffee, specifically brewing specialty coffees. Furthermore, he is interested in community service and hopes to apply my Economics degree by focusing on social impact and development in low-income countries
Linh is a freshman from Vietnam who is majoring in social research in public policy (SRPP) and minoring in creative writing. She is passionate about Education, Sociology, Psychotherapy & Counselling, Mindfulness Practices, and Gender Studies. She is always up for intellectually challenging and emotionally meaningful conversations. Fun fact: she has been a Kpop fan for more than 10 years, enjoys singing and dancing, and her most recent favorite author is Ocean Vuong.
Tala is a Syrian-Turkish junior who is majoring in legal studies and minoring in political science and Chinese. She is passionate about not taking things too seriously wherever possible. She will jump at the chance to make any atmosphere a little more light-hearted. She is deeply fond of D2 food and believes that the variety and flavor in dishes from the vegan section are way underrated. She urges you to give it a chance regardless of your dietary preferences as it won't disappoint.
Nour is a freshman from Palestine who is currently undecided about the direction for her studies. She is passionate about art, math, politics, philosophy, and economics.
Luis is a senior from Mexico who is majoring in economics. He is passionate about projects and ideas that help promote the powerful potential of his own country of Mexico, and about learning how to use policy to make these happen. Fun fact: He owns a sombrero.
Mohammed Ahmed Badhib
Mohammed is a junior from Yemen who is majoring in economics. He is passionate about making a difference in the world, and enjoys watching international politics, sports, and economic policies and consequences.
Ella is a sophomore who is majoring in political science with (hopefully) Arabic and economics minors. She loves languages and linguistics as well as interesting social science research, and her favorite podcast is Freakonomics. She is also am interested in classical music and one of her favorite hobbies is trying different types of hot sauce on different foods.
Laura is a Colombian-Romanian Junior at NYUAD, studying Economics, Finance and Computer Science. Feeding on her studies and work experience in Venture Capital and Tech startups in the Gulf and North America, and in leading NGO efforts in Latin America, she is passionate about technology, finance, social service and entrepreneurship, and particularly about their intersection in driving innovation and efficiency with a social purpose. She is most likely to be found talking with entrepreneurs, traveling, exploring new cultures / cuisines, or dancing. Fun fact: she used to be a professional gymnast.
Aisha Ebraheem Alhammadi
Aisha is an Emirati sophomore who is majoring in computer science and minoring in New Media. She is mesmerized by the role of art and other creative mediums in addressing social, political, and mental issues, etc. to the world. She is also passionate about Arabic literature and its rich culture. Fun facts about her are that she can place her palms on the ground with straight legs, she realized that she can draw through an NYUAD course, and can speak little Korean.
Fatima is an Emirati sophomore who is majoring in bioengineering. She is passionate about understanding the current world and its issues through multiple lenses; she would love to understand the world not just as what it is today, but also as a complete and complex narrative that spans years, or even decades. She also enjoys discovering words and phrases with very specific meanings. Teach her a fascinating word in any language you speak, and she'll teach you one in return!
Yugoo is a Taiwanese freshman who is studying math, computer science, and philosophy. He is passionate about understanding the natural world and society. He hopes to learn the structural problems related to climate change and analyze it from a mathematical perspective. Fun fact: his name "Yugoo" is the sound he made when he was born, and he loves badminton, basketball, and cello.
